Go Texan Day

We're getting ready for the Rodeo here in town. The parade was Saturday and opening night is this coming Tuesday. The Friday before the Rodeo the whole city celebrates with "Go Texan Day", a tradition started in the 1950's, where everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite western or rodeo attire. The kids' school and my office both honor this tradition and our family loves it!

Sadly, Jackson woke up with a fever Friday morning and couldn't go to school. He was not happy when he found out he couldn't go to "Cowboy Day" at school.

He got really mad when he had to take of the hat to give it to Matthew.

Matthew loved dressing like a cowboy too, but not taking pictures.
On Saturday I volunteered at the Rodeo Run. A 5K & 10K race sponsered by ConocoPhillips which raises money for Rodeo Scholarships. Part of my "Go Texan" outfit was my volunteer shirt.
Me and my little cowboy.
We're going to celebrate again on Monday.
Jackson is ready!!
